This Is … Where?
Fantasy Maps and Journeys in Imaginary Worlds
Abendvortrag zu den historischen Kulturwissenschaften
Referent: Dr. Stefan Ekman (Universität Göteborg)
Summary: Fictional maps are one of the most common tools used to provide geographical structure to fantasy worlds. This lecture explores some ways in which fantasy maps are constructed, how they relate to narratives, and what they can tell us about the worlds that they portray. The lecture will use fantasy works by Tolkien, Miéville, and Sanderson for its main examples.
